Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring someone with me to shoot?
Yes. It is possible to bring someone with you to shoot, but......
They will be required to sign in as a guest.
They will be required to sign our Firearms Act Section 21 Declaration Form to satisfy us that they have no criminal convictions preventing them from handling a gun.
You must be an experienced shotgun certificate holder and YOU are solely responsible for ensuring that the person or person's that you bring, behave in a safe manner at all times, and do not endanger themselves or any other person's in their vicinity.
How often is your shoot open?
We shoot every other Sunday, 26 shoots in total throughout the year.
Please see our fixtures page for full information.
I am a complete novice, can I shoot?
We offer coaching services to those interested in joining the sport, and our club. In the first instance, please complete our Coaching / Contact Us form and one of our professional coaches will contact you to discuss requirements and prices.
I do not own a gun but would like to learn, can you help with this?
In short, Yes.
This would involve going through our coaching programme where you would be able to use one of our club guns, suitable for all ages 10 and above, statures, male and female. Use the Coaching / Contact Us form to discuss further.
Do you cater for person's with disabillities?
Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate person's with serious disabilities. The nature of our sport is handling shotguns therefore safety is paramount. The undulating terrain of where we shoot, in a wood, does mean that person's with severe disabilities could find this challenging. We are open to discuss all requirements however but please do not be disappointed should we be unable to accommodate you, I am sure you will understand.
How much does it cost to shoot at your club?
Our pricing structure is clearly laid out in our "Prices" section, if you require any further clarification then please use the "Contact Us form" and a member our team will respond.
Can children shoot?
The minimum age for a child to shoot at our club is 10 years of age.
They must be accompanied by a responsible adult who is a shotgun certificate holder.
If the responsible adult is not a certificate holder, and their child would like to take up the sport, then we can make arrangements for the child to be given instruction through our coaching programme. Please note that a responsible adult must still accompany the child at all times whilst visiting our club.
Can I buy cartridges when I visit the shoot ? (non-members)
Yes cartridges can be bought by non-members upon the provision of a valid shotgun certificate, no certificate then no purchase. This is to comply with current firearms legislation. Fibre wads ONLY are to be used at our shooting ground.
Do you have food available?
Because of our location in a wood, sadly No.
We do however have hot drinks and cold cans to purchase at 50p and £1 respectively.
We do provide biscuits free of charge and quite often bread and dripping is available.
Do you cater for Stag/Hen Do's or Fun Days
We do not cater for such events on safety grounds, also due to our location in a wood.
If you are looking for this type of activity, then please visit this link for Hazelbank shooting ground who can accommodate your requirements, ask to speak to Mark, please mention we have referred you.
